• Look for areas of excess moisture such as under sinks, shower/bath areas, hot water heaters, over-irrigating at exterior perimeter, & air-conditioning units re-direct or eliminate to remove pest’s water source. Gutters holding decomposing organic leaf matter should be cleaned regularly. Get rid of their homes-inspect storage areas at interior & exterior, and either place away from the structure such as firewood or place in plastic airtight bins to eliminate pest’s harborage areas. Remember this includes the garage & attic especially if cardboard storage boxes are being used. Plastic is recommended as cardboard is the perfect home since it can be a food source and a “nursery” for pests.

• Get rid of branches and trim plants too close to structure. Keep trimmed about 2 feet away to remove easy traveling from plant/tree to structure entry points. Rid the entry points-inspect structure exterior and seal up obvious entry points around electrical conduits, pipes, windows & doors. Foam sealant in a can is a quick as well as inexpensive fix. Weather stripping at windows & doors will not only keep out pests but improve energy efficiency.

How do I keep Rodents out of my house?

You want to keep rodents out of your home, the best thing is preventative maintenance. Anywhere where there’s any openings large and you want to close those up. The best products to use for that, that you can get at any of your local hardware stores is grow foam, steel wool, and hardware cloth. Anywhere where these openings are just go ahead and close them up. Steel wool, shove it inside, around your pipes, especially outside where you got your plumbing sketches coming in from your faucets, underneath your doorways you want to close those off, anywhere in your attic area, on the side of your house, just go ahead and close up those screens with some hardware cloth. These are easy simple techniques that are cheap that you can use to keep those rodents out of your home.

What do I do if my pet has fleas?

If you think your pet has fleas, first of all, I’m not a veterinarian but I can say this, you want to find out if you have fleas first.

I’ll tell you a pest control trick that you can use in your home or even use it as a party trick. All you’ve got to do if you think there’s fleas, go ahead and put down a white piece of paper. It doesn’t have to be a large piece of paper. Place it near the dog or the animal that you think might possibly have fleas, and just wait and watch.

You’ll start to see those fleas actually jump and land on that piece of paper, which, you know that’s a problem. Then, you go take your dog, get the dog dipped, before you get the dog dipped, or the same time that you’re dipping the dog, give a pest control company a call, let them know what your problem is. They’ll come in and do a treatment in the dog area, where the dogs laying at, the dog room where the dog’s staying at, and the dog yard where the dog’s living at, or animal. After that, your problem should be gone. Just make sure that you get your dog dipped or you use any flea remedy that you may know of for animals, again I’m not a veterinarian, but I can get rid of your fleas after you get your dog dipped.

Do I need to worry if a rodent died in my wall?

If a rodent dies between your walls, should you be concerned? I guess that really depends.

• Was an anti-coagulate bait used?
• Was another bait used?
• Did it crawl into that space and die?
• How can you find out? Really, you’ve got to go by smell.

If you smell the problem then we can cut a hole, and remove that rodent from your wall void and patch up your dry wall to take care of that problem. Hopefully, you used us. Do I need to leave my home during pest control?

If we come to your home for a basic spray (a quarterly service), NO, you don’t have to leave your home.

It’s best that you wear socks and shoes while we’re treating the inside of the home. It’s best that you wait fifteen minutes before you go out there and start throwing the ball around with your son. You always want to put your dogs away, not only for the dogs safety but our safety. Just because our products are bio pesticides, USDA approved that doesn’t mean that your dog will have allergic reaction, or your child might possibly have an allergic reaction to the diatomaceous earth, to the Nyban to the mother earth Chrysanthemum plant.

Those are things that, as a pest professional, we want to make sure it don’t happen. In order to do that, we make sure the areas we are treating are secure and also almost every product on the market, including Windex, can harm a fish, so if there are fish we try not to spray around those areas as well so you know, vertebrates don’t end up getting hurt in the process.
